EDUCATION AND CAREER

2011: Director of the branch of the Universidad Andrés Bello's department of Sociology in Viña del Mar.

June 08-10: Post-doctoral fellow of the Doctoral research program (Graduiertenkolleg) “Friends, Patrons, Followers” sponsored by the German Research Agency (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft), Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg.

2007: PhD awarded in Sociology with the highest distinction (mention très honorable avec félicitations du jury), Ecole des Hautes Etudes enSciences Sociales (EHESS, Paris).
Dissertation title: “Political mobilisations, dual gouvernementalité and ethnic construction. A sociology of the Turkish nationalism: Western Thrace ‘Turks’ as a case study (Greece, Germany, Turkey)” (in French). Supervisor: Pr. Hamit Bozarslan.

2002-05 : Member of the Institut Français d’Etudes Anatoliennes (Istanbul).

2001: Master in Sociology, Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Paris). Graduated with a distinction for my dissertation.

2000: Maîtrise (4th year degree) in Political Science, Institut d’Études Politiques de Rennes. Graduated with a distinction for my dissertation.

 

RESEARCH TEAMS

Associate researcher of the Centre Émile-Durkheim, Université de Bordeaux.

Coordinator of the Grupo de Estudios Sobre Chile (GRESCH) en Santiago.

Member of a three-year research project (2008-11) sponsored by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche on “State government and administration in Turkey and the Ottoman Empire since the 19th century”. Project coordinator: Élise Massicard, EHESS.

 

TEACHING EXPERIENCES

Since 2011: Senior Lecturer in the Universidad Andrés Bello en Viña del Mar, Chile. Teacher of "Fundamentos de la Sociología" and "Teoría sociológica clásica" (1st year degree students).

Teacher of ‘Political Sociology’ (3rd year degree students): Sociology and theories of nationalism, state building, social movements, voting, political elites.

2001 and 2003: Two grants from the Centre Marc-Bloch (French Research Institute in Berlin) for one-month investigations in Germany.
